1st day of school!

Scott is wearing the school PE uniform and Ryan is wearing the regular school uniform.  This picture was taken at our front door before we left on the first day.
This picture is taken in the foyer of Ryan's building-Ashley reall enjoys getting to look at the fish.

The kids are allowed to play on the playground if they arrive before 8:00 so we stayed with Ryan to play.

This is Ryan lined up with his class.  His teacher, Mrs. Avecilla is at the front with her hand raised.

These 2 pictures of Ashley were taken in the foyer of Ryan's building-it's very pretty.

The boys were SO excited about today!  I didn't have to wake them up or tell them to get into their uniforms today-we'll see how long that lasts.  Scott had PE and wore his PE uniform today and Ryan wore his regular school uniform.  They both looked very handsome and as usual they seemed very big and grown up.  Of course I had to take their pictures before we left.  They had even eaten breakfast and we did pictures while Ashley was still sleeping.  I finally had to go wake her up.  So we all got ready and headed off.

We pulled up to Scott's building and it was a good thing that I had gotten my hug and kiss as the car was stopping because he practically jumped out of the car and ran away.  We arrived very early-not knowing exactly how long to expect it to take to get there.  But one of the supervising teachers took Scott around and introduced him to some other 3rd graders.  The kids who arrive early can play on their playground and be in the atrium area outside the hallway his class is on.

Ashley and I got out with Ryan.  Ashley was all excited that she got to look at the fish tank in the lobby of the Early Learning Center (ELC) and then we left Ryan's backpack in the gym and went outside to his playground to play.  He and Ashley had a great time playing together on the playground.  Someone blows a whistle and the kids line up with their things and their teacher.  Ryan smiled broadly and waved to me as he started to walk to class.

Ashley and I had a terrific first day just us!  We came home and read some books, blew bubbles outside, played tea party, and had a girls lunch with Daddy at the mall.  Ashley rode the carousel again.  We did a couple of other errands and then went to pick up the boys.

We picked up Ryan first, going into his building and waiting for his teacher to bring his class down to the lobby.  He said his day was GREAT.  He was (as always) most excited about telling me about recess and lunch.  He told me that he had written the alphabet letters and numbers up to 100.  He had gotten to see the new ipads that they are introducing in the ELC this year.  He told me that he had 2 new friends from his class, Philip and Emily.

Figuring out how to pick up kids from carline anywhere new is kind of tricky but I did finally find and get Scott.  Many of the Brent kids ride the bus and Scott and Ryan will start doing that soon.  Scott also had a great first day-he enjoyed PE (they did soccer drills) and Computer Lab and said that his teacher was nice.  He brought home 2 books he had checked out of his classroom library.

Both boys thought it was funny that they didn't have homework on the first day of school but they had homework from their teachers to give me!  So after swimming with the neighbor kids and eating dinner, the kids went to bed and I sat down to do my homework.  Greg had a late international call to make from his office so he didn't get home until late.  I was glad that they survived and really enjoyed their first day!
