Stool hurdles

2nd post of the day-The kids have missed a few days of school already due to excessive rain and flooding and this is something they enjoy doing when we are inside on rainy days!  I am amazed that no one has gotten hurt doing this yet!

The sports setting on the camera really does capture some funny moments and expressions!

Ryan can get some serious air when he jumps!
Anything to burn some excess energy when stuck inside.  This is actually an event in the family Olympics, which we began while watching the real Olympics and have repeated from time to time.  Scott likes to keep score and give prizes.  In addition to stool hurdles most recently, they did races as animals-bunny hop, seal slide in socks (which I don't normally let them wear in the house without shoes because someone is ALWAYS slipping and falling), wheelbarrow, etc-again anything to burn energy, having fun and acting crazy!  When all the points were added, Ryan won and they all made prizes for each other.  Scott is into folding paper into things lately.  Ryan made certificates of participation-after asking me how to spell that word, and Ashley made the boys paper cameras in their favorite colors.  Fun sibling bonding time!  Greg and I are always telling them how we hope that when they are grown and have their own families that they will enjoy each other as much as we enjoy Aunt Emily, Uncle Jake, Aunt Jodi, and Uncle Chris!  We are blessed to have great family and nutty children!

Spirit Week at School!

Each day has a dress up theme and the kids had a lot of fun!  Above is geek day-Ashley took the route of sophisticated intellectual, carried a book, and told everyone that she was a librarian!  The boys are mad scientists!  I had fun spiking their hair with gel!

The 5th grade did something funny on geek day!  One of the teachers taught all 4 classes the division song-to the tune of "the chicken dance."  The lyrics were something like this

First you have to divide
then you have to multiply
then subtract and bring down
the next number

Scott was hilarious showing us at dinner time!
Tuesday was future self day-the boys were regular scientists and Ashley was a chef.  She wore the hat that Aunt Ann gave her this summer, an apron, and had spoons and pot holders in her apron pocket.  The boys have potions made of water and food coloring.

Wednesday was fashion disaster day.  It was hilarious-all wore mismatched shoes and clothes that didn't match.  We spiked hair again and Ashley had about 8 pony tails coming out all over her head!

Thursday was look a like day.  You could either look like another classmate or Scott wore the Batman costume, Ashley and Hannah both wore their Cinderella dresses, and Ryan and Daniel both wore angry birds shirts.
Friday was the house rally day so everyone wore their house shirts!  Even all the teachers are assigned to a particular house.
The big gym-3rd grade up through 12th-it gets VERY loud!
Scott was all ready to scream!
This time, they had a separate house rally for the little ones and it was quieter and they were able to be more involved!
They had made flags and pom poms in art class!
Ryan was on the front row in the gold section
Back in the smaller gym with Ashley's crowd-yes I ran back and forth so that I could see both rallies
 Here is the Brent Lion!

 Gold doing a cheer
The main reason for the running back and forth-Scott wanted me to see him do his part in the relay!

I was glad that I didn't miss it-he had fun!
 Ryan did too!
The little ones got to play games also, here are some teachers demonstrating riding on a noodle!
Ashley with a new friend Cassie, whose parents both work at Fluor
The administrators have these cool shirts with 1 square of color for each house-gold, emerald, and azure and then a burgundy one
 Ashley playing the freeze game
Mr. Hammett teaching the little ones a Brent cheer!  It was a fun morning and the gold house won!  They keep track of points through the whole year and there is a plaque that the winning house is engraved on at the end of each school year!

Another Friday at school

 Playing before school!
 Ashley's chapel
Waving at Mommy during the welcome song

The song they were singing was "If I were a butterfly"  I remember singing that in youth choir!  Such a cute fun song
Ashley was SUPER excited to have her own Brent Pride Award-the first ones given out this year.

She couldn't wait to show the boys when they got home from school in the afternoon!

They have been talking about shapes and this is the person Ashley made from her shapes

I also got to see Scott and Ryan's PE classes.  Scott is practicing volleyball skills and Ryan's class was running on the track.  Ryan is the one in the hat.  He has run 4 laps of the track which is a mile, in awful heat and cut his time from 9 minutes and a few seconds to about 8 1/2 minutes-I was really impressed!
