The porch that has seemed to take FOREVER!

This is our old deck-it was needing some repair in spite of Greg's efforts to paint and protect it for a little while longer so we decided to do something about it this summer.  The workmen VERY quickly tore it off the house but the putting back has taken a long time!  Granted we wanted it bigger and made into a screen porch but we started on June 28th and it still is not done yet-we are close though!

Scott, of course, said-can I jump out the door??????

Ashley scooted off with a little more caution!

Max was not okay with the idea at first but

follows his people almost everywhere they go!!!!

Thankfully this was not an often repeated stunt!!! or I fear that someone or some dog would have sprained or twisted something!
Below is the uncovered part where we are planning to put the grill and the stairs are on this side of the deck now because there wasn't space on the other side when we made the deck a little bigger.  Max was rather confused by this at first and kept coming to the side where the stairs had been-once he even jumped up on that side trying to get in!  It was funny in a sad pitiful way!

We had a roof for a long time without much to hold it up.

Then we got walls and screens

a cool bug that I caught on one of the support posts

and Max has his own little door!!!!  Greg and I had held it up inside for him to practice walking through and he seemed very excited that he can come and go from the porch as he wants to.

The kids really got a kick out of watching him try it out!

Ashley really wanted to spend the night on the porch and Ryan said he would do it with her.  Between them, in their double sleeping bag are Ashley's dolls Elizabeth and Lucy.  They began work on 6-28 and this last picture was taken on 8-13-not as long as it took to renovate/add on to Chris and Jodi's house but we felt like it was long for a porch!  We have certainly enjoyed it a ton already though!
