Reedy River 5K

The school where Ashley and Ryan go is a special health focused school and Ryan has been in their running club before school this year.  Last year all 3 kids ran in the youth mile run on Friday night before the Reedy River run-a well known Greenville 5 and 10K.  This year the boys decided to train and run the 5K with their running Grammy!  She has always said she thought it would be fun to run a race with grandchildren and got to do it this year in spite of a foot injury a few weeks before.
 Love our beautiful downtown!
Ashley was stretching along with them but did not run this year.
Greg really does not like being up and going this early on Saturday mornings!
In pink is the awesome running club coach, Mrs. Tracey!

The crowd from running club who participated!

We watched the start and quickly walked to a turn to cheer for our runners!

Above and below is Scott at the first stop we made
Below is Ryan at the same stop

Grammy is in the middle of the same stop
Our lovely Peace Center downtown-Scott gets to play in a tuba concert here!
Ashley directing traffic near the finish line!

Greg sent Ashley and I to the finish line and sent us texts when everyone passed him-Scott was the first of our three across the finish line-here he is just before!

Below, Ryan had just crossed the finish

Two tired, sweaty, but happy boys!  When I asked Ryan how it was he said "hard!!!!" but then just a few minutes later, he was telling me how much fun it had been!  Ryan finished in 30:53, placing 35th out of 50 kids in the 14 and under age group!

Grammy coming across the finish line

Looking up times online!  Scott finished in 24:57, 14th in the 14 and under age group!
Falls Park near where the race ended-they had water, fruit and granola bars for all the runners

VERY proud of these three and their BIG accomplishment!!!!

Since we were right there we couldn't pass up the chance to walk on our pretty bridge and see the falls!
 Ashley and Grammy

The 3 runners!  Don't know if the boys will choose to do this again, but I know it was a special thing to all 3 of them to do together!
