What Scott has been up to lately

We have been practicing with our chopsticks (since Greg read somewhere that it is often considered rude to ask for silverware in restaurants in China and often it is not available anyway).  Scott really enjoys eating with his.

His recycling project-one of the easiest school projects EVER!  I knew that this was coming up and he had been talking about building some kind of robot, but I was struck with inspiration one day when I balled up a piece of paper and threw it in the garbage can.

The Snowball Fight in a Box was born!!!!!

I was amazed when his teacher said that he could actually do that.  To his credit, Scott did come up with the idea for protective gear-shoe boxes as shields and paper plate masks for during the fight!

Maybe we can sell these in the Philippines!  Who knows!

Our kids had a blast trying it out!

His most recent current events project was about a volcano eruption!  Greg posted about it on fb.  It was a volcano near the city of Donsol, where we went at Easter to see the whale sharks and we actually saw the volcano from a boat.  However it produced mostly a large ash cloud-no lava.  Sadly some hikers and their guide were killed.  Below is a picture of the poster he made for this.

The results of the recent track and field day-SO FUN!!!!!  Results:
all placements out of all the 4th graders that competed for
4 x 100 meter relay-4th place
 discus (frisbee) throw-6th place
60 meter hurdles-10th place
100 meter dash-10th
medal for 3rd place (they accidentally gave him a gold medal instead of bronze) in the javelin throw
The javelins were plastic with rubber tips-the 4th grade one weighed 400 grams which is about 3/4 of a pound.
