Scott's 1st Swim Meet

2nd post of the day-Here is Scott walking back from a warm up lap-the meet was at Manila Japanese school.

Scott and I left the house about 7 on this Saturday am.  Then our driver when back to the house and brought everyone else so that they could see part of the meet.  Above you see the crowd-this was actually a fairly small meet I was to find out later.  The swimmers did warm ups and got ready.

Below is Scott with his back to us and Coach Monching is in the white shirt giving instructions to the swimmers
Waiting in the chairs for it to be time for his race.
He swam 50 meters-2 lengths of this pool- in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.  He hates swimming butterfly.  I don't have any cool pictures of him mid-air jumping in the pool because I took movies of his actual races!
He came to sit with us during breaks between races.  There was a little flip chart across the pool that showed the number event they were on.  He is showing me his events and numbers that the coach wrote on his arm.

Here is the spectator crew and Scott having a snack break with us!

Going back to the ready bench
His times were good for a first meet ever-I was planning for he and Ryan to do swim team in the summer of 2011 at home but we weren't there long enough to complete the season and there was too much other stuff going on.  It was a great learning experience for all of us-Scott enjoyed it-LOVES competition just like his Daddy and is learning some good lessons about attitude and sportsmanship.  Only a few of the best times in each event earn points for their team but maybe he will be able to do that in the future.  He learned a hard lesson and was mad about being disqualified from his freestyle event.  We found out later that in that event you have to touch the wall with BOTH hands and he saw in the movie that I had taken that he had not touched with both hands.  Another parent who has children that swim said "well, he will probably never make that mistake again!"

I didn't realize this but there are several international schools located right together up in Makati-a northern suburb of where we live.
