Alison and Pat Visit

Alison's grandfather (my Uncle Jepp) and my Dad's mom (Gran-Lucy Nell Sudderth Flowers) were brother and sister and certainly no piece of posterboard I could buy here would fit all the brothers and sisters in that family tree that is my Dad's family Thanksgiving gathering every year.  Alison and Pat have been gone from the US on a round the world trip since a few months before we left to move to Manila.

They arrived last Monday night.  On Tuesday morning went with me on our ALIG feeding program.  That afternoon I took them to Town Center where we wandered the grocery store-Alison said it was one of the nicest she had seen with most variety in all their travels.  Then she and I got a pedicure while Pat explored the mall and marveled at all the Christmas decorations.  Alison and I laughed at the Christmas music playing in the salon where we were.  Then we got ensaymadas from Mary Grace's Restaurant to take home and share for an after school snack.

That afternoon when the boys got home from school we ate our ensaymadas and hopped in the car to take them to ride the indoor roller coaster!  We all had fun

I told them how popular karaoke is here!  This is in the area with all the games and rides at the mall.

On Wednesday Ashley skipped school to go with us to Intramuros to learn about the Philippine hero Jose Rizal.  Here are some shots on the way there.
Alison stuck her face through this cut out because Ashley didn't want to!
Alison and Pat with our hilarious tour guide-who called himself Georgie Porgie!  He made us all laugh and I think they learned a little about Philippine history too.
 overlooking the Pasay River
Ashley and I in our Spanish soldier hats!

She is always happy to ride a calessa!
 Seeing Fort Santiago

 The Governor's Palace

Georgie Porgie told us that this street was where the motorcycle chase scene of Bourne Legacy was filmed.  We have seen the movie but need to watch it again and see how it compares real life and the movie.
Another view of the Governor's Palace
 The entrance to Intramuros
Tricyles-Alison and Pat laughed at my description of a bike (sometimes motorized and sometimes a bicycle) with a sidecar and they are often quite crowded.
We came back to the house for a little while and then Alison and Pat went with me to pick up the boys from school, see taekwondo club, and let the boys show them around their school.

Scott is on the back row, left-sorry about all the sun coming in the windows and messing up the pictures.

Scott is getting ready to spar with another friend
Ryan wanted them to see the hideout by the fishpond
Saying goodbye on their last morning before Ashley and I took them to the airport-they flew to Boracay to enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches, and then on to Apo Island for some diving before they go to India.

Pat was great to let the boys hang all over him.
Maybe Alison and I will make the Thanksgiving picture quilt
They were so sweet and brought us "pound cake" from Japan-it tastes good-it is not Aunt Lynda's but was yummy.
Have no idea what was in it!
