1. Calling Embassies-I was helping to check phone numbers for our ladies group directories-I found myself having to listen for a while at some of the numbers until they got to the English translation of their welcome recorded message to hear and understand that it really was the embassy
2. Pie weights on the Asian Food Channel-In the States you can buy little clay looking bead things for pie weights (to keep the crust from puffing up) or I have read on numerous cooking sites to use dried beans. I had to laugh when I heard them say and show on the Asian channel to use-you guessed it-RICE
3. Ashley saying that she loves me anyway "even when you fuss at me" this makes me laugh every time-it's like she thinks I enjoy fussing at her or that I do it all the time.
4. Seeing a dog in the mall-not on a leash or in a bag and it was wearing a diaper-really I am not making this up!
5. Scott got a magic trick set for Christmas-he did get another set of directions in English but these weren't very helpful
One really cool thing-relating to foreign languages is that I noticed that the friend I was sitting next to at Bible Study Fellowship last week (Joann) had a parallel Bible with English on one side and Chinese on the other. She was extremely timid about answering and sharing her thoughts when she first joined our class. She has been coming for a few months now and has really opened up-I am convicted by her dedication and commitment and time spent studying God's Word and preparing for BSF sharing time.
