We left on Wednesday morning and returned on the Monday after Easter. The resort where we stayed was beautiful! Greg and I enjoyed scuba diving on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings while Katherine watched the kids. Then she went diving a couple of afternoons and Scott got to go diving again. We wanted to take Ryan too but he got scared out in the ocean because the waves were rough in the shallow part. He was very excited to get to hold a chocolate chip starfish and breathe through my regulator long enough to look underwater and see the starfish float back down to his house. I told him that we could rent an air tank and he could practice breathing underwater in the pool where there aren't waves.
Lunch at the resort's restaurant on Wednesday after we arrived
Practicing her ballet moves on the steps down to the water-this was the only thing we didn't like about where we stayed-no sandy beach at the water's edge to play on
This was the dive boat we went out on
Our rooms were right at the top of these stairs
The kids (and ok-I did too!) thought the bridge over the pool and the island in the middle with water and some lounges was really neat and a fun place to sit.
Katherine and I had massages on Friday night in this little hut by the pool
another view of the pool's island
At dinner one night
My mother would have loved to have seen Ashley wading in the ocean-being at the ocean was one of mom's favorite places in the world!
Wow-how did he get to be such a big boy?
Another dear love of GG's-seashells-Ashley showed us this one that she found thousands of times over the next few days-it had pink stripes on it-obviously one that she was meant to find
Serious seashell studying while we waited for the divers to come in one afternoon
Here they are returning! walking through the seaweed to get to the steps
We saw men out raking seaweed in baskets one day and noticed in the restaurant next to the tanks of live fish, one was also filled with seaweed-we then started joking that we were walking through someone's dinner.
We also saw some fish catching pens in the water when we went out diving one day and joked about taking a marker diving and drawing an X on the side of the fish and looking for it in the restaurant tank the next day.
Thank you so much to big cousin Ian for showing Ashley on skype how to make such "great" faces!
Walking back to the room with her Daddy after a dive
She can do a cannonball now!
Ryan must have jumped off the island 1,000 times while we were there-he loves his new flippers!
This is Ashley's $5 sundress from the sale rack here-I don't think my polka dot flip flops add a thing to it!
Katherine took some pictures of us before dinner one night
What amazing luck! 3 smiles all in the same picture!
Katherine bought these sunglasses for herself while she was here but Ryan enjoyed wearing them an awful lot! More pictures of the trip to come!
LOOKS SOOO FUN!
