2nd new post of the day-Near the entrance of Magic Kingdom-I don't remember where we stayed when I visited Disney as a child but I remember riding the monorail train back and forth to the park and thinking how fun it was.
Nearing the entrance-they scan everyone's magic bands-a wonderful invention-room key, you can add a credit card for purchases, and id, and everyone in the family is linked. ALL that we carried into the park each day were 2 phones and the camera and its bag. This was a great way for us to do it. We enjoyed having older kids and not needing diaper bags and strollers and all the other stuff little ones need. They also check bags at the entrances-so you get in faster the less stuff they have to look through and seemed a little more thorough with their checking at Magic Kingdom than at the other parks
It's the castle!!!!!
There are 6 areas of Magic Kingdom so we tried to focus on 3 each day-We were mostly in Fantasyland-were all the princess things are, Tomorrowland-future and space things, and liberty square on this day. We had planned to spend our first four days at parks we had already decided on but after only part of the day here we were coming to the conclusion that one day was not going to be enough to ride all the rides in MK. It has more actual rides than any of the other parks and also was more crowded so it took longer to get to ride the ones we wanted. We had planned to let the kids choose what they had enjoyed most to go back to on our last day but we all agreed this was the right way to go. The other parks were great but we agreed MK had more than one day's worth of rides.
the carousel
Snow White and dwarf mine train
more map studying
ride the mine train
The tea cups-one of my VERY favorite rides!!!!!!!
The race track
Scott in the front car
Ryan
Ashley and Greg coming back in
Ashley on the It's a Small World boat ride
Greg said this haunted house was one of his favorites as a kid-I think it was being renovated when I came because I don't remember it at all-nothing truly scary if you realize the things they are trying to scare you with are not real-like a projection of someone scary looking in your car with you. The kids thought it was funny
This interactive Monsters Inc show was hilarious!!!!
You could text jokes while waiting in line and they might use yours in the show
There was a stage/screen
and lots of funny audience participation
Here we are on Space Mountain-I was terrified and wouldn't ride this when I was child, but as an adult, it wasn't too bad! It is indoor and mostly in the dark-not complete but you can't see well enough to know exactly what's coming. The people mover ride goes through the building where Space Mtn. is.
The runaway mine train is an outdoor roller coaster-less scary than Space Mountain-I remember riding this as a child.
We ate lunch both of our days in Magic Kingdom at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe (in tomorrowland near the race track)-they had burgers that were really good and a great topping bar with onion strings and mushrooms and places to sit down inside with a/c and tables. We did our quick service meals at lunch and a lot of the quick service places were outdoors and didn't have great seating. We were doing so much walking and were hot by lunch (even though we had AMAZING weather) that inside, sitting for lunch was really nice!
This is the Liberty Square area-we saw these bands perform before the big afternoon parade
We saw the riverboat go by
afternoon parade
We thought this sign about the Younger brothers was funny-it's in the train station
We rode the train around the whole park-resting our feet and taking in the sights
We split up some in the afternoon-Ashley and I saw Pooh and Tigger
rode the carousel
and did some shopping-this is a Minnie statue in a store
Ashley loved all the mosaic pictures as you walk through the castle gateways
Her perch for the dance party
with the Liberty Bell before our dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern restaurant-Greg and I thought it was good. Not Ashley and Ryan's favorite and Scott is all about quantity these days so he is not as particular as the other too so he was fine. They served us family style-dressed in colonial time costumes. We had salad, turkey breast, pot roast, and ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and rolls and apple tart with ice cream for dessert. It was a ton of food.
The entrance as we left that night! Love all they do with flowers here!
