Crazy Lines at the Zoo
a HUGE crocodile that we saw
Ryan loves turtles of all kinds
This kangaroo crossed the road just in front of us!
We were in a hurry to get seats for the elephant show, otherwise I would have wanted to stop and feed the kangaroos too!
This was the only day it rained and the show was delayed, cancelled but then started-we were very happy we had gotten there early for covered seats. Ashley chatted with a new friend while we waited for the elephants.
They would eat whole coconuts and whole bunches of bananas at once!
The cool trams at the zoo
The bear finally came out to see us
The penguins were also fun to watch!
Ashley and Scott pretended to be eaten by a crocodile
There was a water park but we were wet and sticky enough from the rain and humidity! This was near where we had KFC and Ben and Jerry's ice cream for lunch!
People taking elephant rides!
Ryan-the extremely safety conscious one was reading about what to do if you meet a snake!
Don't worry Granny Joan-the only ones we saw were in cages!
This was an extra animal that landed on Ryan!
Watching the rhinos was neat!
The kids made rhino horns!
deer!
This was mine and Greg's favorite place-near the polar bear's enclosure and it was COOL!
Giving Piggy back rides
and now elephant back rides
I took these from the back of the elephant the 5 of us rode on but you will have to wait for our Christmas card to see the picture! It was short but now I can say that I have ridden on an elephant! They walk very quietly b/c they are really walking on their tiptoes.
From where we ate dinner at the Night Safari Zoo-there was a fire dancer show!
It was neat but no pictures b/c it was so dark and also VERY crowded b/c of the Easter weekend.
This is the 2nd tooth of Ashley's that I pulled over the Easter school break. See the below note-
On Saturday we went to the Chinese Gardens
and part of that is a Turtle Museum-which we just had to see. We bought green beans and cabbage and fed, petted and played with the turtles for a while. It was very fun!
Some of the turtles were in pens or cages but some were just walking around the grounds or playing in the pond. All of these were pets at one time or another and then became unwanted and the museum cares for them now.
We walked some through the gardens and made our way to the Singapore Science Centre-it was really neat!
Do you see a duck or a bunny?
Below-a cat or bunny?
The Super Cool Liquid Nitrogen Show!
The Van De Graff generator show
and blowing up a helium balloon!
On Easter Sunday am we went quickly to the National Orchid Garden and then to the airport. Will post orchid pictures later.
The beautiful and award winning Changi Airport
We ate lunch at Swenson's in the airport. There used to be a Swenson's on Wade Hampton Blvd. that was a hang out in college but it is closed now. I bet they didn't have Durian sundaes-we would have brought you one Katherine!
Durian is a huge hard spikey local Asian fruit! It has a very strong smell and taste and looks like you would need a sledgehammer to open it.
I wandered, shopped,
and fixed Ashley's hair while we were waiting to get on the plane. She is proud that her hair is long enough for 5 rubber bands now!
Reading at the gate!
The lady who cleaned our hotel room found the note we left for the tooth fairy and drew this for Ashley and left her a Singaporean dime! It was a really fun trip!
