3rd post of the day-
Above is Ryan showing his new braces. They are just on the front four teeth to fix the one in the front that is twisted because he had an extra tooth (that was removed last spring) that made the front permanent one come in twisted. Happy that they are on so that when the tooth is flat like it should be, every time he gets a bump in the mouth, he won't end up with a cut inside his lip. Thankfully he has not had any pain or complained about them at all! He got them on Friday afternoon and the boys left for the camping trip Saturday morning.
Greg and the boys went on their first overnight Scout camping trip. They spent Saturday night camping in tents on Corregidor Island, got to go on a tour, roast marshmallows, and ride a zipline. They all had a great time! We look forward to camping more when we are home to stay and have our gear out of storage-of course I am picky though and want to go in fall or spring when the weather is good for sleeping outdoors!
from Wikipedia-here is a little info on the island-
Corregidor Island, locally called Isla ng Corregidor, is an island located at the entrance of Manila Bay in southwestern part of Luzon Island in the Philippines. Due to this location, Corregidor was fortified with several coastal artillery and ammunition magazines to defend the entrance of Manila Bay and the City of Manila from attacks by enemy warships in the event of war. Located 48 kilometres (30 mi) inland, Manila has been the largest city and the most important seaport in the Philippines for centuries, from the colonial rule of Spain, the United States, and Japan and after the establishment of the Republic of the Philippines in 1946.
Corregidor (Fort Mills) is the largest of the islands that formed the harbor defenses of Manila Bay together with El Fraile Island (Fort Drum), Caballo Island (Fort Hughes) and Carabao Island (Fort Frank), which were all fortified during the American occupation of the country. The island was also the site of a small military airfield, as part of the defense.
During World War II, Corregidor played an important role during the invasion and liberation
of the Philippines from Japanese forces. Heavily bombarded in the
latter part of the war, the ruins left on the island serve as a military
memorial to American, Filipino and Japanese soldiers who served or lost
their lives on the island. Corregidor is one of the important historic
and tourist sites in the country.

Group shot of all the boys
This gun was really interesting, it would pop up to fire and then retract so it wouldn't be a visible target

also from wikipedia-
The Malinta Tunnel, which is the last stronghold of the joint Philippine and American military prior to the Japanese takeover during the last world war, is now home to an audio-visual presentation by National Artist Lamberto V. Avellana
of the events that took place on the island, including the reluctant
departure of General Douglas MacArthur and the evacuation of the
Philippine president Manuel L. Quezon and his family to unoccupied areas of the Philippines and eventually in exile in the United States.[4]
they had lots of fun collecting "firewood" Really just an excuse for boys to play with sticks!
Getting ready for the zipline! first time for both of them
eating smores
Before they came home on Sunday afternoon. There is a hotel on the island now and it is a popular day trip spot. Ashley and I were thinking about going along but decided not to when I came down with a nasty cold. The island is somewhere that I have wanted to visit while we lived here so we decided that sometime when the kids are out of school for the day I would take them and we would let the boys be our tour guides and show us around and take us to see what they saw.
Greg did a great job taking pictures for me and I was so glad they all had fun!
