Scout Camp

At Camp Old Indian, Wednesday night is family night.  All the families are invited to come up for a visit, have dinner, and go the evening camp fire.

Ashley was killing time waiting for the boys doing cartwheels
 Here they are
all the boys at camp get in line every night for the lowering of the flag

we brought Chick Fil A for dinner

Ryan's bunk in his adirondack-open shelters with a roof where they stay.  They are inspected daily and Ryan swept every day and was "blamed" for their adirondack getting the award for being the cleanest.
We heard lots of good stories about a meat stick eating mole, stabbing spiders with broom handles, and silly camp songs like ending everything with "we threw it out the window."  Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb, Mary had a little lamb and we threw it out the window.

Ryan was showing us all of his requirements that he had been getting signed off in his scout book
 crazy faces!

Scott's adirondack-they needed a broom because there were lots of fights with baby powder-

Ryan snuck away for a  quiet moment to read
 at the campfire

Scott was called out to his "ordeal" to become a member of the order of the arrow.  This is a special honor for scouts meeting certain requirements and voted on by leaders and fellow scouts in their troop.  The ordeal involves service projects and spending the night outside and time of silence.  His had to be partly indoors because of severe weather but he is a member of the order of the arrow now!

below are all the called out members for their ordeal that week at camp

 Our two scouts!
All five of us after the campfire
Returning campers in the church parking lot-unloading and sorting out belongings.  Ryan was tired.  Scott was happy to be in t he car and enjoy air conditioning for the first time in a week.  Ryan said that his trunk was packed so tightly that it might explode when he opened it but it did not!  Scott is showing off his arrow sash-normally it would be worn over his class A khaki shirt.  They had a great time and we are glad they are home!
