Random things that have been going on!

Ashley chose to do a timeline for her Antebellum period Social Studies project-she had to put it together in the garage so that Max wouldn't try to jump up and steal it off the table!  She had to write sentences about different events that happened during the period.
Here is a spaceship that Ryan built out of marshmallows and toothpicks!
Ashley was helping me make something in the kitchen and Max is close by, ever hopeful that something will land on the floor for him to snarf up!
Cookie booths for Girl Scouts one Saturday
Ashley and her friend Claire-they even made up a cheer for selling cookies!  It was adorable and hilarious!
This was our March snow-the grass was mostly covered early on Sunday morning and we drove to church in the snow but it all melted and was gone when we got home!  Crazy spring weather in the South!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Here is Ashley all dressed up and ready to go to her school for a fun night with Daddy!
She asked me to take a picture of the back of her hair!
 Above with Greg outside

Below with some friends at the dance!  A fun, special night!!!

Region Band

Region Band was the week of President's Day-Scott was off for the holiday on Monday, 8th graders had job shadowing on Tuesday-he went to a neat company's office downtown that designs websites, actually went to school Wednesday and Thursday, then on Friday was at Furman to practice for Region Band.  Only going to school for 2 days in a week is really nice!

Can't seem to get he and the dog to cooperate at the same time.  It was fun to be at Furman with Scott!  Never did I imagine when I began there-27 years ago-that I would be one of those Greenville people who would invade campus to walk dogs and play with kids, but at least I drive the correct direction around the traffic circles.
Max and I walked after Scott went in to practice.
This is the breezeway that Greg drove our old black Suburban down once-we were trying to take a friend home who lived in the dining hall apartment and it was really late.  We did fit with the side mirrors folded in!
 The mall of lovely trees
The region concert was on Saturday afternoon at 4-below is the first group that performed.
Here is Scott when his group came to the stage
Tubas are great for hiding behind!

They sounded great and had fun performing here!

 Funny!

They also got these really sharp looking t-shirts!

Scott wanted to stay to see all the other groups play so I went for a walk with Ashley and Ryan.  The girls dorms are behind Ashley
 walking to see the lake
running in the maze of bushes

Ashley nearly got bitten and Ryan had a swan bite on his pants leg!

 a sweet picture for Mom
and then what they really wanted to do!

County Band

All County Band was a couple of weeks ago at Riverside High School.  They practiced Thursday afternoon, all day on Friday (bonus to get out of school) and then there was a concert on Friday night.

Below is a friend of Scott's from preschool named Parker-he plays the saxophone-he is the one wearing glasses, a bow tie, and a black band around his neck for his instrument.  They don't go to school together anymore but still enjoy hanging out at things like this and his mom and I still pray together most weeks-it is special to have sweet, long time friends like that!
Here are some of the few decent pictures I got of Scott back in the curtains at the very edge of the stage!  We laughed trying to find him, even with the long zoom lens of my camera-he was a few people in from the front of the stage.  Greg suggested later that tuba players should have one of those tall bicycle flags on their tuba and everyone is assigned a color so their parents know which one they are-since seeing them is usually not very practical!

They had fun preparing and had a great director-a former student of the man who is Scott's band director now!  Scott's favorite song was Crazy for Cartoons-which was just a fun peppy song to play and had some fun sound effects-one of the girls got to scream REALLY loudly and at one point everyone just got to play whatever note they picked!

 Exiting the stage!

Funnies

 This sign made me laugh!

What happens when Ashley is allowed to play on my phone for very long!

I am only tempted to do the below one sometimes.
Max knows the sound of the air popcorn popper and assumes that he will get some of the pieces that inevitably fall on the floor!
